This is very simple to answer; on p.195 of the Catholic Catechism it states the following;
841: The Church’s relationship with the Muslims.
“The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”
Brothers and sisters we must never seek to answer questions like these without going to the horses mouth and this we have done. In fact the Catechism is a fascinating read and uncovers all sorts of previously mysterious ideas and doctrines and actions and decisions taken by the Pope and the catholic church.
It also explains many things like why certain politicians favour Catholicism. The reason as usual is related to the power that the ‘mother’ church wields and for those who don;t really have faith in God, are unbelievers or nominal it only makes sense in a world where might makes right, from a worldly standpoint to be on the side of power and not truth.
Hence do not be surprised when you see people like Tony Blair, Bill Clinton, Hilary Clinton, Putin (and others like him yet to jump) and a whole host of others who may well have appeared to adhere to Christianity, or even appeared irreligious or of nominal CofE type protestant faith – jump ship. As a career move, from a political, financial and where you come in the pecking order from a social standing viewpoint it makes all the sense in the world.
It is up to you however to decide wether it’s such a great career move from an eternal perspective. I might add one thing; that eternity is a long time to be in a job that turned out not to be quite what you expected, or what it was cracked up to be at the interview.
