What’s Difference Between Amazon Store ID & Tracking ID?

The first thing we need to know is that your Amazon affiliate Store ID and Tracking ID are two separate tags used to keep track of who and where Internet users clicked on your website pages and then went to Amazon and made subsequent purchases under your ID’s for which you will receive a commission.

So what’s the difference between Amazon Store ID & Tracking ID?

Store ID is a tag used to track your commissions made by your ads on the Affiliate Associate Program. You can choose any name for your Associate Store ID. For example it can be “yourwebsitename” and the resulting Affiliate ID generated would be “yourwebsitename-20”

Tracking IDs are the unique page slugs (the bit you see in the web address like: www.mypage.com/this-is-a-slug/) that get added to your affiliate links. You can create as many as you like, as long as they’re unique to you. All IDs are followed by a number.

Both are needed to identify the store front/website owner and the page that a user clicked.

Can I use my same Amazon Store ID on my different websites?

You can – but you ned to refer to Amazon’s How-To pages for Amazon associates to se exactly how this is done now as methods and policies change over time and possibly have since the writing of this article.
