Church in the Bible is not mentioned in the Old Testament and refers in The New Testament to God’s people. The Church (capital ‘C’) is often confused with a church – or church building.
These days a church though to most people is simply a building and has been for many decades. But the original Christians knew better that the church was the body of god – the people that love God and want to keep His commands.
Somehow then we have lost our way a little with the building of great churches – beautiful though they are – I cannot see Jesus Christ sanctioning these great constructions. However – this is only a conclusion I have comes to and I’m open still to be persuaded otherwise – though it’s been on my heart many years.
That said there is nothing wrong in my humble onion calling a church building a church – just so long as we remember the original meaning and words – Ecclesia.
