Why Does Evil Exist & Where Does Evil Come From?
What does The Bible say about The Origin of Evil?
Suffering and Evil in a world that God supposedly loves is the most difficult issue for many Christians in terms of giving a reasonable explanation as to why God apparently allows it. It is also a major stumbling block for Christians and non believers alike!
What are we to make of a loving creator that stands by and allows evil, suffering, torture and pain to rampage through this world? Is there a greater meaning and deeper reason as to why God allows suffering – if there isn’t we as Christians are in hot water.
Thankfully the truth behind the worlds greatest mystery is not that mysterious at all! It’s tied up with Gods desire for us – his creatures to be given total free will. Anything other than giving us complete control over out thoughts and actions would be short of giving us real freedom. God has taken a huge leap and entrusted the world to us even though we as a whols have rejected him over and over. However, out actions may come at a cost to others.

A huge and infinite price must be placed on the value of each person and that value can be seen and felt through our phisical experiences so that one persons actions – good or bad – effect another. Every time you do something bad – someone actually suffers as a result. It may even be you that suffers. Either way – real love means real life and real life can only be lived out when there is a price to pay for wrong doing. That seems incomprehensible to us but its very simple and God himself went through the suffering in the form of Jesus so no one could say that he is distant, removed or unconcerned.
God does not delight in suffering – he hates it. Yet He allowed man to kill him! Greater love is not known other than one man lays down his life for another. If there is no suffering in physical form – then you have nothing to sacrifice thats of any real value – nothing that really costs you anything. This is why God allows suffering – its part or sacrificial love. Finally suffering must be seen as a tiny spec of time line if eternity even though its seems eternal to us – in an infinite time such as God has planned for us – the suffering on this planet can in one sense (time wise) be seen as infinitely small and a price well worth paying for a life of eternity in heaven.
