Q: Do Christians Need The Bible?
Well technically no, not according to The Bible, where it says; “The Holy Spirit with teach you all things” BUT….. and this is a big but….. there are many external factors, experiential factors and spiritual forces that influence our thinking and mind therefore…. whatever you believe The Holy Spirit is teaching you – YOU MUST WEIGH IT UP WITH THE BIBLE to be sure wether what you are being learning is correct. THE BIBLE IS A TESTIMONY OF WHAT IS AND ISN’T CORRECT ON ALL OF MAN’S ISSUES!
So whilst it’s true, if you are stuck on a desert Island, or are blind and you have no access to a Bible – God is quite capable of teaching you with His Holy Sprit.
It’s the same with pastors. The Bible says; “you need of no man to teach you” which is true and great but again, beware and weigh everything you believe God is revealing to you against what the Bible says – i.e the collected wisdom of men who wrote over thousands of years under the influence of The Holy Spirit and despite the distances and times between them agreed totally!
Also – it is very profitable for Godly men to teach you as they can speed up the learning process and the time it takes for you to produce fruit in your Christian life. But The Bible says; “beware – there are may false teachers among you”! So, the remedy for this from The Bible? “test the spirits.” And how do we do this?.. by asking Bible based and Holy Spirit led questions and listening very carefully to the answers with your spiritual ears and eyes.
So in the end – man being what man is – corrupt at heart and finds it all to easy to mis-hear or not hear at all the small still voice of God’s spirit – we need The Bible!
