Is Tinder for Christians a Good Idea?
As far as I am concerned – having run an online Christian dating agency for 22 years and having seen how some sites reduce dating game to going to a meat market – I think this is an utterly terrible idea.
I have just been speaking to a desperately upset lady who I stupidly encouraged to go on Tinder seeing as she was telling me fairly often that she was finding it very difficult to meet someone.
Not really understanding Tinder (and frankly being so busy I didn’t give it proper thought) I said; “sure why not give it a go” trying to be positive seeing as she seemed to not have the confidence to even go on it.
Boy did I make a mistake. Initially she got loads of responses. Then… it all went wrong!
As is happens there is a new site – or rather Christian dating app out there that does embrace the ‘swipe culture’ – the forerunner of which was the ‘hot or not’ site fad – that Facebook started life as and it’s called SALT.
That said – I suggest you check it out for yourself as I will not say that it does not have principles – but I think once you reduce dating to purely looks with little profile content – it’s the wrong road.
