The answer is YES – but read on to find out how. I have just been given several old iPhones which I wish to distribute amongst friends and family. How to factory reset an iPhone without knowing the pass-codes or password
There are a few of different ways to reset an iPhone if the passcode is not known or forgotten or remembered. However – be warned certain of these options will completely wipe and erase all your or whoever owned he phone’s personal info, pics, apps, photos and other data and information. You can try a third-party software solution, go through iCloud or use iTunes to reset your iPhone.
You can only reset an iPhone with iTunes if you previously synced the device to iTunes. Once the iPhone is plugged into the iMac/Macbook etc – be sure to back it up to your iTunes account before resetting the phone without the password. This will mean you are able to recover all lost data afterwards.
How to reset an iPhone through iTunes
- Plug iPhone into computer and open iTines. On left see and click on ‘Summary‘
- Here you will see option to ‘Restore iPhone‘.
- Once iTunes has finishes restoring your phone you can access it without using a passcode and you can get back into your phone and then later restore the iPhone with all the information you recently backed up.
How to reset an iPhone with 3rd-party software on app
There are many apps out there which can be downloaded to your PC desktop and used to rest your iPhone! This is the best option for folks that have bought an iPhone or one that has become locked and you are no longer able to access it. Use iCloud to restore iPhone
(you must have previously enabled Find My iPhone!)
- loggin to iCloud account.
- select “Find iPhone” then select device you’re looking for.
- Select device you intending to erase.
- Click “Erase iPhone” – which will completely reset the phone (or other device).
- NOTE: any data previously backed up to iCloud can be restored to the device.
