Hi all! This is my own off-the-bat, one-hearing reviews of the following pianos: Donner DEP-20 / Casio CDP-S110 / Korg Liano L1 / Roland GO:88. These are ‘budget’ weighted and semi-weighted 88 key portable keyboards.
In no way a I giving my opinion on which you should by – just my immediate reaction to the basic sounds played side by side. These are my personal preferences listening to back-to-back piano demos of these pianos played one after the other on several review videos I watched. Don’t take my word for it – check them out yourself as you may prefer different, fuller or brighter sounds than I do!
Donner DEP-20 (budget, portable digital piano)
Standard Piano sound: nice and warm; comes in at no.3 for budget realistic piano sound. SEE THIS PIANO HERE >>
Casio CDP-S110 (Contemporary Digital Piano)
Price at time of this article: £319
This sounds fuller than the Roland GO:88 (which only has 4 sounds), but not quite as wonderful as the Korg Liano L1. The super thing about this piano by all accounts is it’s super-real piano weighted action. THIS is the budget piano to go for if you are looking for that as I was. Comes in at No.2 for piano sound! No.1 for weighted key action. Lower score for weight: 10.3kg (twice weight of Liano). This however is VERY THIN from back to front so squeezes right up against a wall out of the way. It is however quite hight from top to bottom. Very bad sting sound to my ears. 13 hours battery power!!! Great as a midi controller keyboard as it’s thinnest keyboard ever made (front back). Korg Liano L1 (winner for piano my ears – and LIGHT WEIGHT!)
Standard Piano sound: Sounds cool right off the bat! Deep full sound. Comes in at No.1 for piano sound! 6.3kg – super light portable keyboard – top marked for weight! Best string sound to my ears. Semi-weighted keys. Best for music production midi / and software control. SEE THIS PIANO HERE >>
Roland GO:88 (only 4 sounds – thin piano IMHO!)
Price at time of this article: £299
Standard Piano sound: NOT weighted but not bad action. Sounds sweet but thin and not so full as I would like – much prefer the Korg Liano L1. Comes in at No.4 for piano sound. I read that the action and speakers are great on this model. However the action on the Casio is MOST LIKE A REAL PIANO! This portable 88-key piano has Blue-Tooth audio and midi. Other outputs are limited. 2 hours battery power. SEE THIS PIANO >>
This is a demo of my favourite budget 88-key piano at this time – the Casio CDP-S110 …
